Dr. Lin's series, MUSICAL PAINTINGS, portrays the essence of his talent of capturing melody with color. His goal throughout his painting career has been and continues to be for the viewer to not only absorb visually, but aurally, the music transcending form his works.

With spiritual teaches such as Beethoven, Mozart, Shuman, Chopin, Prokofjief, and Orff, his brush seems to play across the canvas as if it were a piano. To Dr. Lin, spiritual education walks hand in hand with the awesome powers of imagination, leading to an appreciation of the arts. Dr. Lin credits the famous Viennese professor Oskar Rainer for enlightening him to this concept.

Professor Rainer believed that painting stimulates the consciousness of the inner world, leading to the spiritual pathway. Emanating form Dr. Lin's MUSICAL PAINTINGS are the spiritual teachings of his many guides throughout his career.

The following oil paintings were created by Dr. Lin, inspired by the embodiment of Mozart's Magic Flute and Carl Orff's Carmina Burana.

Dr. Lin's theme of paintings, MUSICAL SCULPTURE, brings the spirits of Mozart and Beethoven to the medium of color on canvas. Music as an art has always been considered abstract; its follies of trills and harmonies playfully dance through our minds, arousing images and thoughts. Dr. Lin captures this essence from our mind's eye and translates it into the embodiment of his oil work.

Within a gaze of his art, the bright pigments inspire somber chords and gentle dapples of notes upon a piano. Each painting within his theme, MUSICAL SCULPTURE, holds its own distinctive visual and aural expressions-some very subtle-others more pronounced with a G or F clef floating in the timbre of the work.

As Dr. Lin's marriage of these two artistic culminations continues to gain momentum, the once silently beautiful visual arts shall rise in the dawn of the 21st century with their musical counterparts, naturally as one.
